It is important to note that the results obtained from an online self-assessment quiz do not confirm that you have endometriosis. While the results may indicate a likelihood of the condition, only an endometriosis specialist can give you a definitive diagnosis. Remember that it takes an average of 7 to 10 years to obtain a conclusive diagnosis, so the sooner you have your symptoms examined, the better.

When is the right time for me to see a doctor for endometriosis?

Some of the telltale signs that it is time to pay a visit to the doctor to have your symptoms examined include:

• Excruciating menstrual/pelvic pain: if you experience severe menstrual or pelvic pain that disrupts your day-to-day activities or inhibits your ability to go to work, then it is time to see a doctor.

• Heavy menstruation (link to menstrual disorder page): if you typically use up to 5 or more sanitary pads a day, then you are experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding.

• Difficulties conceiving: if you are of childbearing age and have faced difficulties in conceiving in a span of a year (for 35 years old and younger) or 6 months (for 35 years old and older), then it is best to have your symptoms examined.
